CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — Three corrections officers are out of a job and two just got out of jail. All of it stems from an alleged brutal beating of inmate Jerome Williams at the Charlotte County Correctional Institution in December of 2008.
Williams, who is serving a 17 year sentence for robbery, burglary and carjacking, apparently told Sergeant William Langenbrunner and Officer David Cox that he was feeling suicidal and then charged toward the sergeant while the pair was taking him to see the nurse.
According to the report, both Cox and Langenbrunner grabbed Williams to hold him down, and then put him in a cell when derogatory language was exchanged between him and the officers.
