BOISE, Idaho — A state medium-security prison south of Boise is still in lockdown mode following a disturbance involving more than 100 inmates.

Idaho Department of Corrections Spokesman Jeff Ray says a modified lockdown is in place at the Idaho State Correctional Institution. Under a modified lockdown, inmates have limited access to day rooms and mobility within housing units.

The 90-minute disturbance at the 34-year-old prison began late Friday night. Four inmates suffered minor injuries and no staff members were hurt.

Inmates broke control-room windows, overturned furniture and started a small fire in a temporary housing block opened earlier in the day as a response to state budget cuts.

Prison officials are still investigating the uprising.
