DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. — A Romeoville man released earlier this month from DuPage County Jail to attend the wake of his 5-month-old daughter has been indicted on an escape charge after never returning.
Wilfredo Rivera, 33, of the 1700 block of Fiddyment Drive was in County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail, charged with six traffic violations, the most serious being aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
Judge George Bakalis issued a three-hour furlough to Rivera on July 14 after it was confirmed that his daughter, Jazlene, was being waked in Bolingbrook-McCauley Funeral Chapel that day. Rivera never returned to the jail, and a DuPage County grand jury indicted him Thursday.
