OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio — Inmate litter patrols are coming back to Over-the-Rhine.
The Hamilton County Solid Waste District, Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and 3CDC will pay for two daytime crews of inmates supervised by Hamilton County Corrections officers to work in Over-the-Rhine beginning in 60 days or less.
The crews were removed from the Cincinnati neighborhood in December along with regular sheriff’s patrols because of county budget cuts and a failed sales tax increase. The litter patrols continued to work on other county roads and highways.
Hamilton County Commission President Todd Portune, who also chairs the Waste District’s policy committee, introduced the plan to the District.
