SALEM, Ore. — Persistent inmate fights forced the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem back into lockdown Wednesday just as the prison was resuming normal operations.
Prison officials expected to return to normal operations Wednesday following two brawls over the weekend that involved some 81 inmates. However, two additional inmate fights broke out — one on Tuesday night and one on Wednesday morning.
“All four incidents appear to be connected with two inmate groups,” according to a prison press release.
