ODESSA, Texas – A former officer at the Ector County Correctional Center faces a bribery charge over allegations that he supplied an inmate with three bags of marijuana and a cellphone in exchange for about $450 in October, the U.S. Department of Justice said Wednesday.
Andrew Allen Zehr, 23, faces up to 15 years in federal prison and a maximum $250,000 fine if convicted.
Mr. Zehr, who was being held at the Midland County Jail on Wednesday, was employed by New Jersey-based CiviGenics, otherwise known as Community Education Centers.
The company is contracted by the county to manage the federal holding facility inside the Ector County Courthouse.
