FLORENCE, Ariz. — A man accused of attacking two corrections officers in Pinal County in separate incidents has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.

County prosecutors say 27-year-old Christopher Durazo kicked a corrections officer in the face as he was being moved within the Florence prison in March 2013.

They say Durazo took apart a razor and slit the throat of a detention officer while housed at the Pinal County Detention Center in December 2014.

Durazo was convicted of one count of aggravated assault in the 2013 incident and pleaded guilty to one count of deadly or dangerous assault by a prisoner in last year’s incident.

Both corrections officers recovered.

The prison sentence represents five years for aggravated assault on a correctional officer and 17 years for cutting the detention officer’s throat.
