PHOENIX — A 32-year-old woman will return for her 12th day of testimony in the trial over the death of her Arizona lover, after a prosecutor worked to poke holes in her story.

Jodi Arias faces the death penalty in the trial over the June 2008 death of her lover in his suburban Phoenix home. She says it was self-defense, but police say she planned the attack on Travis Alexander in a jealous rage.

A prosecutor on Tuesday hammered Arias over how she initially lied to authorities by telling them she wasn’t involved, before settling on self-defense.

He noted how Arias described Alexander as a violent, womanizing sexual deviant, but also as a kind and beautiful person.

Arias was set to return to the witness stand Wednesday.
