PORT ANGELES, Wash. — An inmate with a history of attacking correctional staff received another sentencing for stabbing a Clallam Bay Corrections Center officer.
KHQ reports that Carlos Avalos received an additional 5 years and 10 months on top of the 10 years he was already serving after stabbing a counselor with a contraband weapon.
The additional 5 years is for stabbing an officer with a contraband weapon. The officer who was attacked received multiple cuts to his face, head, neck, hands and torso, including a long gash on his face.
The weapon he used was likely crafted from a cell heating vent, and was found in the hallway near the scene of the assault.
