ANAHEIM, Calif. — A set of parents concerned more with playing a video game are now behind bars for locking two young children inside a filthy mobile home for years.

KTLA reports that Lester Louis Huffmire and his wife Petra Huffmire pleaded guilty to two felony counts of child abuse, two misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment, one misdemeanor count of contributing to delinquency of a minor, and sentencing enhancements for great bodily injury.

Lester Huffmire received five years in state prison while Petra Huffmire received three years and four months.

Investigators found the couple’s mobile home to be in unsanitary and uninhabitable conditions; they described kitchen appliances “covered in mold and cobwebs, stacks of trash, debris, mold and feces throughout the home, a pile of used condoms under a stuffed teddy bear, and inoperable toilets.”

Both were unemployed and played World of Warcraft all day. They did not allow their two daughters, 10 and 5, out of the home for any reason.

A neighbor finally called the Anaheim Police Department. Police conducted a welfare check and found the children with dirt crusted on their feet, matted hair, damaged teeth beyond repair and malnourished.
