ORDWAY – The inmate who stands accused of the murder of DOC Sergeant Mary K. Ricard has been formally charged.
Miguel Contreras-Perez is charged with 13 counts, but the charges were not read in open court according to the Chieftain. He is accused of the stabbing death of Sgt. Mary Ricard and the assault of Sgt. Lori Gann.
Contreras was serving a 35-to-life sentence for assault and kidnapping out of El Paso County. He is currently incarcerated at the administrative maximum-security Colorado State Penitentiary in Canon City.
