Inmate to receive no charges in jail attack

Lincoln County Jail Administrator Dave Manninen says he could not explain why, as it would violate HIPAA privacy laws

WSAW

LINCOLN COUNTY — No charges are expected to be filed against an inmate who attacked three corrections officers.

Lincoln County Jail Administrator Dave Manninen says he could not explain why, as it would violate HIPAA privacy laws. HIPPA laws protect the confidentiality and security of healthcare information.

According to a news release, corrections officers entered a cell block Sunday morning after it was reported that an inmate had suffered a seizure. As the officer tended to him the inmate jumped up and struck a female Corrections Officer.

As the inmate was being removed to a holding cell he again became combative and bit a second Corrections Officer. A third Corrections Officer was also injured while removing a taser probe. Manninen says the corrections officers had only minor injuries and are expected back at work soon.
