WAYMART, Pa. — After repeatedly stabbing a corrections officer in the face, a USP Canaan inmate was sentenced to 15 more years.
The Times-Tribune reports that Jose Montalban, serving a sentence for bank robbery, approached a seated officer on December 28, 2012, and stabbed him three times with a six-inch sharpened plastic knife.
Montalban was subdued by responding officers. The officer who was stabbed sustained puncture wounds to his face and required nine stitches.
Montalban was found guilty after a three-day trial.
