WATERLOO, Iowa — Steven Siegel, 26, has been accused of impersonating a corrections officer while attempting to buy a car on Saturday.
Police reports say that Siegel had a holstered BB pistol with him at the car dealership and placed a fake badge on the counter while writing a check, according to the Sioux City Journal.
Siegel allegedly told a dealership employee that he was a corrections officer hunting for an escaped inmate. He wasn’t trying to gain any special treatment at the dealership, according to the City Journal.
He is still in custody.
