Man gets life in prison after setting roommate on fire

ANOKA, Minn. — A 30-year-old man convicted of dousing his roommate in gasoline before lighting him on fire will spend the rest of his life in prison, without the possibility of parole.

A jury convicted Adam John Lilienthal, of Andover, of four counts of first-degree murder in the death of a 55-year-old man who was renting one of Lilienthal’s rooms.

According to charges, after growing tensions between the two men, Lilienthal became angry with the victim, went to his garage, grabbed some gasoline and poured it over him while he was laying in bed. Charges say that’s when Lilienthal set the man on fire before fleeing the scene. The victim died from severe burns, several hours later.
