PASCAGOULA — Rene Levario pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony DUI causing the death of a Florida federal corrections officer in 2008, during a two-vehicle accident.

He was driving his Ford Crown Victoria when he slammed into a Harley-Davidson driven by Gary E. Coulliette, according to the Sun Herald.

Coulliette had been visiting South Mississippi casinos and was headed home when he was hit. He is survived by his wife and their six children.

Levario’s blood-alcohol content, according to Assistant District Attorney Kathlyn Van Buskirk, was 0.17 at the time of the crash. In Mississipi, anyone over the age of 21 who registers above 0.08 is considered legally impaired.

Levario remains free on bond until his December 13 hearing.
