SAGINAW — A jury only took 30 minutes to convict an inmate who admitted on the witness stand of attempting to kill a state correctional officer.
MLive reports that a jury convicted inmate Daniel J. Derda of assault with intent to murder and three other felonies.
Derda admitted to assaulting Correctional Officer Kevin Ott with two weapons the afternoon of October 17, 2014.
He now faces life in prison with the possibility of parole. He is currently serving time for carjacking and armed robbery.
