ALSEA, Ore. — A man shot in the head Saturday was booked into jail Monday after being released from the hospital.
The case started early Saturday morning when an air ambulance rushed Joseph Michael Pellett from a Vernon Road residence in Alsea to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield with a single gunshot wound to the head.
The 25-year-old survived the shot from a small-caliber handgun and was released from the hospital over the weekend.
Sheriff’s deputies investigated the shooting — and on Monday, they booked Pellett into jail on felony and misdemeanor charges.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said a 22-year-old woman who also lives at the Vernon Road residence shot Pellett in the head after a physical struggle. Deputies are treating the case possible domestic violence.
Pellett was booked on two counts of felony unlawful use of a weapon, misdemeanor assault abuse in the fourth degree, misdemeanor strangulation and two counts of misdemeanor menacing.
