TAMPA — A University of South Florida student accused of attacking his roommate with a 13-inch knife was arrested Monday afternoon.
Xia Li, 29, became enraged after his roommate, ChengCheng Mou, made a comment about his cooking about 1:30 p.m. in their on-campus apartment at 4235 USF Holly Drive.
Li knocked on Mou’s door, barged inside and punched him in the face. “Don’t treat me like that!” Li shouted at him, an arrest affidavit states.
That’s when Li went into the kitchen, grabbed the knife and returned to Mou’s room. He knocked him down on the bed and pressed the blade to his neck, causing a minor injury, the affidavit states.
Moments later, Li retreated into his own bedroom.
Mou, 23, called a resident assistant and left the dorm. He declined medical treatment.
USF Police arrested Li, who faces several charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and armed burglary, jail records show.
He was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where he was held without bail.
