SOUTH CHARLESTON, W. Va. — A South Charleston man convicted earlier this week of causing a drunken-driving death was sent to jail Wednesday after he allegedly violated his home confinement by getting drunk and high and bragging about it online.

On Monday, Brent Lamar Davis, 26, pleaded guilty to causing a collision that left a motorcyclist brain dead. Kanawha Circuit Judge James Stucky allowed Davis to remain on home confinement until he was sentenced in June.

The next day, county home confinement officers received a tip that Davis had violated the terms of the house arrest, which prohibit him from using drugs and alcohol. The officers searched Davis’ Facebook page and found that he had bragged in several posts about using the substances.

One of the posts read “Drinkin’ the pain away, ok let’s get it.”

Hours before he appeared in court Monday, Davis also posted that he was “on some s***.”

Davis tested positive for marijuana Tuesday. He later admitted to smoking 10 joints and drinking a shot of tequila, court records state.

Kanawha County Assistant Prosecutor Dan Holstein asked Stucky Wednesday morning to revoke Davis’ bail and send him to prison. The judge agreed.

Last September, Davis was driving west on MacCorkle Avenue when he turned in front of Michael Frame’s motorcycle onto Montrose Drive. Frame slammed into Davis’ car and was launched 30 feet into the air. He died from massive brain injury days later.

Davis stopped at the intersection, left his car and walked to a nearby Hardee’s, where police arrested him. He told police he drank a beer and a double-shot of liquor that evening. He registered 0.085 on a Breathalyzer test. The legal limit is 0.08.
