SUSANVILLE, Ca. — An inmate at the High Desert State Prison has been shot by a corrections officer following an attack on another inmate.
According to KRCRTV, William Dye, 45, was shot after an incident at the facility.
Dye and another inmate attacked and stabbed a third inmate with a jail-made weapon.
Corrections officers responded to the scene and ordered the attackers to stop; when they did not comply, a rifle was fired and struck Dye in the abdomen.
Dye and the victim were transported to a hospital in Reno. There is currently no additional information about their condition.
Dye is currently serving a life sentence for a 2007 shooting during a drug deal in Chico.
