MOSCOW — Corrections officers at an Ukhta penal colony discovered contraband attached to a feline visitor.
The Moscow Times reports that the cat had a mobile phone taped to its back. It’s believed that former inmates who had recently been released sent the package to their friends still behind bars.
Two phones and a SIM card were confiscated from the cat before it was released.
Cats are popular among Russian inmates when it comes to smuggling contraband; last summer, the same plot was discovered at another prison in the area.
