PORTLAND, Ore. — Stacey Addison remains behind bars in an East Timor prison more than two months after she was jailed in a court appearance to get her passport back.
Addison, the Portland veterinarian who entered East Timor to renew her visa during her travels around the world, was originally arrested when police stopped a hired car in which she was a passenger. Another passenger in that car was suspected of carrying meth, and Addison was taken into custody for five days — even though she wasn’t charged with a crime.
When she went back to court in an effort to get her passport, officials sent her to a prison in Dilli, where she stays — again, still not charged with a crime.
