We’re all guilty of it – habits that follow us from the facility back home. Thankfully most of the time these just make for humorous stories, but they sure can be embarrassing!
Here are ten more habits that follow us off duty (check out the original ten habits if you haven’t yet seen them). If you can think of more, add them in the comments!
Stormie Kirby: I pat my chest looking for a pen all the time!
Justin Hoagland: I nearly always include my badge number with my signatures. It takes effort to not do that!
Randy Thompson: A co-worker told me once he answered his home phone, looked up to see which unit he was in and replied “Home, Officer Morales.” I laughed so hard hearing that.
Joe Peter: When someone asks you something and you reply in 10 code.
Rachel Cloud: Pat yourself down before leaving house or car.
Holly Finn: How about when you stand at a door to wait for it to pop, and you’re at home?
Chris El Ranchero Raylock: Trying to rest my forearms on my OC and CPR pouch.
Sara Poling: One day a good while ago I got a touch irritated with my puppy, turned, looked at him, and commanded “LOCK DOWN!” - To which he turned, crawled into his kennel, and sat.
Dustin Smith: Randomly checking doors to see if they’re locked. Subconsciously checking fire extinguishers and AEDs to see if they are charged...
Paschen Dale: When I’m ordering at the drive-thru and can’t hear what they say, I slip up with “Come back- you broke up!” Embarrassing!
