JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark. — The Jefferson County Jail Administrator attributes Wednesday night’s riot damage to inmate overcrowding and lack of manpower.
Jail Administrator Deputy Greg Bolin said the riot cost them thousands of dollars in damage. Bolin said the inmates rioted because privileges were taken from them due to a contraband problem.
“Contraband is an ongoing thing. The Department of Correction has a problem with it, all the jails have a problem with it. It was just getting out of hand,” said Deputy Bolin.
