CO wins Ohio Department of Rehabilitation award

Took the initiative to design safety-based systems

GRAFTON — Scott Jewett, who works at Lorain Correctional Institution, was announced as the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s 2014 Correction Officer of the Year.

According to the DRC, Jewett began his career at LCI in 2003. Since then, he has taken the initiative to design safety-based systems. It also said that Jewett is a member of LCI’s tactical response team and serves as an Strategic Response Team Squad leader.

“Officer Jewett displays the traits necessary to represent our agency in such a distinguished capacity,” DRC Director Gary C. Mohr said. “He has consistently shown leadership and innovation in his professional career, and those characteristics are evident in his community involvement as well.”
