Authorities don’t yet have a motive

NANTY GLO, Pa. — Authorities say a Pennsylvania correctional officer entered a home and shot a man to death, then fled to his own home and turned a gun on himself.

Cambria County Chief Deputy Coroner Jeffrey Lees says the murder-suicide occurred Saturday in Nanty Glo.

Authorities say 43-year-old Paul Hoover shot 43-year-old Harry Ondriezek Jr. in the head shortly before 1:30 a.m. and about a half hour later shot himself in the head while outside his own house when officers arrived.

Authorities say another person in Ondriezek’s home had called 911 and officers went to Hoover’s residence.

Hoover was a corrections officer at the State Correctional Institution-Pine Grove in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

Lees says two guns believed used in the shootings were recovered from Hoover’s residence. Authorities don’t yet have a motive.
