RICHMOND — New details about Saturday morning’s deadly crash involving an inmate transport vehicle have been released.
NBC News reports that the department identified the corrections worker killed as Dennis Toombs of Fredericksburg.
Toombs was driving nine inmates who were part of the residential program at the Stafford Diversion Center back from a work site when they were involved in a single-vehicle collision.
Five of the nine inmates are still hospitalized. The four others have been released from the hospital.
It’s still unclear what caused the crash.
