WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. — The fundraiser set up after CO Chad Hilborn was killed in a car accident yesterday quickly raised more than twice what it was asking for.
MLive reports that the fundraiser’s original goal of $10,000 doubled by Saturday afternoon after 280 people donated money to support the family of the fallen officer.
“These past two days have been extremely hard for my family and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office family,” said Jason Wing, Hilborn’s friend who started the campaign. “It’s amazing, the response, and how united the community has gotten. I am so thankful for the response we have received so far.”
Wing said he started the page because he knew it was what Hilborn would have done, had he something happened to him.
“Chad and his family deserve only the best. Chad always gave all he had.”
