Kevin Hutchinson-Foster, who last week accused police of starting the 2011 riots by killing Duggan, is on lockdown amid fears for his life.
He is not allowed a job in the jail after gangsters threatened to target him. But guards have got him making tea for them so they can watch over him. Hutchinson-Foster, 30, also serves them food and cleans their offices.
He was threatened in a phone call to Pentonville, where he was first held after being sent down for 11 years for handing Duggan a pistol before he died in August 2011. Hutchinson-Foster was switched to Swaleside in Kent for his own safety but it is thought gangsters are still out to get him.
Prison bosses are so concerned they have put him in the induction wing for extra protection. A source at Swaleside, on the Isle of Sheppey, said: “Foster is in a bit of trouble. He’s had a few threats from rivals and is having to keep a low profile.
“It’s a bit humiliating for the lad – making tea for the screws and serving them food. It’s just so they can keep an eye on him really and it allows him to get out of his cell for a bit.”
