CINCINNATI — Another new reality show is in Cincinnati and it’s taking people inside the Hamilton County Justice Center. A new season of the MSNBC series “Lockup” begins with six episodes at the justice center.
Sheriff Jim Neil gave the project the green light, saying it was properly vetted and could be valuable to the jail.
The trailer shows a few bloody fights involving inmates, but jail officials say that is not the whole story. “If it looks like a free-for-all on the trailer, it’s because the camera is focused on that bad behavior,” said Head of the Justice Center Major Charmaine McGuffey. “What you’ll also going to see in that six-week period that show airs is you’re going to watch our deputies who de-escalate, who talk, who deal with very professional people who have issues.”
