PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. — An inmate who was attacked by a prison gang told correctional officers that he merely fell in the shower, refusing to give more details.
KOAA reports that officers checked surveillance video, which showed 10 inmates beating the victim in the bathroom area.
After analysis of the video and interviews, all inmates involved were identified and charged with assault, conspiracy and riot in a detention facility. Nine of the 10 inmates are members of the Sureños.
It’s unclear if the injured inmate was a gang member as well. He was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
