DETROIT — Three former and current Wayne County officials were indicted in connection to the stalled jail project, it was announced today.

Current Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel Steve Collins, former Chief Financial Officer Carla Sledge were indicted for common law offenses: two counts of misconduct in office, and two counts of willful neglect of duty.

The indictments indicate that both Collins and Sledge were untruthful or misleading with the county commission and building Authority about the financial status of the county’s failed jail project, that was halted months ago after tens of millions of dollars in cost overruns.
