DANE COUNTY, Wis. — A Dane County Jail deputy was able to prevent an inmate’s attempted suicide.
Madison reports that the deputy was doing a random check of security camera views when he noticed an inmate on his knees. He continued to monitor the situation until he realized the inmate had a sheet tied around his neck.
The deputy called for backup and together they responded to the cell, prompting the inmate to remove the sheet.
Deputies at the jail have intervened on 101 suicide attempts this year.
