JACKSON — A task force created to investigate Mississippi corrections contracts is seeking opinions of elected officials, families of victims, families of inmates and current and prospective vendors.

“The task force is interested in hearing real-life experiences from Mississippians, including these groups directly affected by the management of the Department of Corrections,” said co-chairman Andy Taggart, an attorney and former chief of staff to Gov. Kirk Fordice, according to the Clarion-Ledger.

Hearings will be held in the upcoming weeks, where those who wish to speak will be given five minutes. The task force will also be accepting written comments.

The task force was created to review all MDOC contracts after former Corrections Commissioner Christopher Epps was indicted for corruption.
