HELENA — The Montana Department of Corrections is looking to repair a staffing shortfall currently afflicting correctional facilities in the state.
KPAX reports that the DOC gained raises for correctional officers during the 2015 Legislature. The DOC is currently 35 officers short of the 350 it needs for full staffing.
Officials are hopeful that the salary increase will attract more candidates.
The Legislature also provided funding for more probation and parole officers.
