ITHACA, NY — An inmate in the Tompkins County jail has been indicted on new charges after he assaulted correctional officers over a blanket dispute.

The Ithaca Journal reports that officers repeatedly told Roshane D. Henry, 24, to stop covering his head with a blanket. When he refused, officers attempted to take the blanket, and Henry retaliated by punching and kicking them.

One of the officers suffered bruising and swelling to the head, an injured left wrist and a slight concussion.

Another officer suffered a sprained thumb along with bruising and welling on the left side of his face and left eye. A sergeant also sustained bruising and swelling to the face and head.

Henry was originally charged in February for heroin possession.
