COCHRANTON — The motorcyclist killed on Route 322 this evening had married in April, was a longtime corrections officer at Quehanna State Boot Camp and was known as a man who “would do anything he could to help anybody,” according to his brother, who asked that his name not be published.
Richard P. Washic, 41, of Allport, Pa., in Clearfield County was killed Friday evening on Route 322 around 8 p.m. in an accident with a vehicle. He was heading to the Roar on the Shore motorcycle rally in Erie with a group of friends, according to his brother.
Washic had been riding motorcycles since he was young man, according to his brother, and was riding his 2004 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail the night of the deadly crash. “He was very outgoing,” his brother recalled.
Washic leaves behind his wife, daughter and two step-daughters.
Blunt force trauma was the cause of death, according to Deputy Coroner Jay Parker. The accident occurred around 8 p.m. near CK’s Footlongs and Soft Serve as Washic was headed east toward Meadville on 322. He was alone on the motorcycle when the crash occurred. A concert planned for CK’s was cancelled due to the incident.
Meadville-based state police were investigating the incident and no further details were immediately available.
Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
