DOVER, NH — The Strafford County Jail’s Family Reception Center had a special visitor last weekend.

Santa Claus made an appearance, handing out presents and taking photos with children who were visiting parents and loved ones at the facility, as reported by Fosters.

With a saying that goes ‘families do time too,’ the center focuses on assisting families around the stressful times the holidays can bring.

Volunteers collected and wrapped gifts, and assisted Santa in passing out the gifts along with taking photos.

The center aims to provide a comfortable, trusting and supportive environment where inmates’ families and friends can come before or after a visit.

Volunteers provide resources and information on how to improve the situation they face with the incarceration of their loved one. The center is also funded completely by grants and donations; they are staffed only by volunteers.
