NIANTIC, Conn. — The state will be using surveillance video from a Niantic prison to investigate two separate incidents concerning the treatment of inmates.

Union members of the AFSCME Local 1565 were told about it the day it happened, six correctional officers are on paid administrative Leave while the Department of Corrections investigates their actions.

The allegation is that four correctional officers and two Correctional Managed Health Care employees had a hand in letting an inmate crawl across the floor. Somehow the woman involved hit her head and is now being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

“That’s what I’ve heard, said John Devito. “I don’t have any proof. We’re waiting to see the video, myself and the president.”
