SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Supreme Court has rejected a ballot effort to stop the state prison from moving, ruling the organizers missed their deadline.

FOX News reports that the state’s top court declared the backers of “Keep It In Draper” had missed a deadline to file for a ballot referendum on prison relocation. The deadline was five days after the Utah State Legislature ended.

The court also previously rejected a petition by Rep. Fred Cox, ruling he lacked standing.

The Utah State Legislature recently voted to relocate the state prison to Salt Lake City.
