MINERSVILLE, Pa. — Three inmates currently held at Federal Correctional Institution Schuylkill in Minersville have been indicted for possession of a weapon while within the facility, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
The indicted inmates are Damonta King, 19, Dorian Myles, 37 and Lesundre Zacharie, 25. They were indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday.
The inciting incident arose in late January, when the three inmates were found to have manufactured weapons on their persons during a pat-down. The indictment alleges that Myles was in possession of a four-inch piece of sharpened plexiglass, Zacharie, a six-inch piece of sharpened plexiglass with a cloth handle and a four-inch razor blade attached to a plastic pen, and King, an unspecified shank.
According to the DOJ, the FBI and Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Investigative Service have investigated the case, which is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tatum Wilson and Luisa Honora Berti.
If found guilty and charged for the offense, the maximum penalty under federal law is five years in prison, a term of supervised release and a fine.
FCI Schuylkill is medium-security prison for male offenders and currently holds over 1,100 inmates.
