DUBLIN, Calif. — A judge on Friday sentenced a former correctional officer to 52 months in prison for sexually abusing a female inmate at the Federal Correction Institution in Dublin and for making a false statement to investigators, prosecutors said.
Jeffrey Wilson, 34, of Eureka, is the ninth officer to have either pleaded guilty or been convicted at trial as part of an ongoing investigation into sexual abuse of inmates at the facility, which was closed in 2024. Wilson pleaded guilty last August to five counts of sexual abuse of a ward and one count of making a false statement to investigators.
He was employed as a correctional officer from July 2021 to September 2022 at FCI Dublin, where he served as a health technician/paramedic. In that role, he was responsible for providing emergency assessment and medical care to female inmates.
Wilson began interacting with the victim around August 2021 after she started taking medication prescribed to her for seizures, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said, citing his plea agreement. He encouraged her to transfer from the prison to a camp, where there were fewer medical personnel who would see their interactions.
Prosecutors said Wilson ultimately admitted to engaging in sexual acts on multiple occasions with the victim. He also provided her with a $60 prepaid credit card and a cellphone, which she used to take naked pictures of herself and send them to him.
When he was interviewed by investigators, Wilson falsely told them he never had sexual contact with the victim and he had never given her contraband, prosecutors said.
FCI Dublin was permanently closed in 2024 after the sexual abuse of inmates came to light.
While the Federal Bureau of Prisons has said there are no plans to reopen FCI Dublin, local officials are concerned it could be repurposed as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center and processing facility. In early April, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution opposing the reopening of the prison.
