TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Corrections officers at a North Carolina prison were assaulted in separate incidents minutes apart.
According to the Associated Press, two officers at the Alexander Correctional institution were attacked on Friday. One officer was assaulted by and inmate during a cell search. The department reports the incident was brought under control quickly and the officer wasn’t hurt.
The second incident happened 11 minutes after the first when another officer was doing a cell search. The officer suffered a superficial wound and received outside medical treatment.
The officer returned to work shortly after.
Officials say the prison returned to normal operations after those two incidents.
