2 La. corrections officers stabbed by inmate with homemade knife

One officer was stabbed in the chest and the other in the abdomen and arm

BATON ROUGE, La. — Two corrections officers at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center were stabbed by an inmate Friday night.

WAFB.com reported that inmate Willie Jones stabbed the officers with a homemade knife in a prison cellblock around 9:30 p.m. One officer was stabbed in the chest and the other in the abdomen and arm, according to the report. Both officers were treated and later released from the hospital. 

Jones, who was transferred to another state prison and placed into investigative segregation, is currently serving two life sentences for two first-degree murders.

The Department of Corrections and Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office are currently investigating the attack.
