KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. — Kentucky State Police say they arrested Rocky Wicker, Jr Tuesday afternoon around 2PM in the Mouse community.
Police had been searching for Wicker, Jr. since yesterday. State Police say some probation and parole officers were trying to arrest Wicker for a probation violation when his father, Rocky Wicker, Sr. opened fire on them, hitting Officer Brian Melvin in the arm. They say some shots also nearly hit three probation officers in the car. Investigators say Melvin had surgery and is expected to recover.
They said the three probation officers in the the car had minor injuries. They arrested Rocky Wicker, Sr. yesterday, but Wicker, Jr. got away. Shortly before 2 this afternoon, investigators say they got a tip that Wicker, Jr. was at a home in Mousie. They say they went to the home and he was there. They say they caught him after a short foot chase.
“He’ll face charges of fleeing and evading police officers also convicted felon in possession of handguns also had some controlled substances on him, things like that,” said Chief Deputy Robby Slone of the Knott County Sheriff’s Office.
