MERCED COUNTY, Calif — Merced County is gearing up for an outbreak of swine flu, with the sheriff closing jails to all visitors and the local hospital seeing more patients with flulike symptoms.
Merced County Sheriff Mark Pazin said Tuesday that all visitation at both Merced County jail facilities will be halted until further notice because of the swine flu.
Pazin said the precautions are for the people inside the jail and that the precautions will minimize any chance of contamination.
