BONIFAY, Fla. — More than 400 inmates destroyed and barricaded themselves in four dormitories of Holmes Correctional Institution Wednesday evening, the Miami Herald reported.
Corrections officers from five different prisons were brought in to assist and control the riot, according to the publication.
A statement released by the DOC stated that one inmate was injured, but no correctional officers were hurt.
The DOC did not clarify why it occurred, how long it took to get under control, or how much damage there was.
The facility remains on lockdown.
