PARCHMAN, Miss. — A corrections officer has been charged with assisting two inmates with an escape from Mississippi’s largest prison.

Tenika Romero, 35, is charged with conspiring escape, Fox 13 reported. She allegedly picked up inmates James Sanders and Ryan Young after they escaped from Parchman prison last week.

Officials haven’t commented on Romero’s detainment or described how Sanders and Young escaped. Sanders was detained Tuesday outside an Arkansas home. Young was arrested Wednesday in Mississippi.

Sanders, 41, is serving a life sentence for a 1998 murder, WREG reported. Young, 22, is serving a 40-year sentence for burglary of a vehicle, burglary of a residence, grand larceny and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
