LINCOLN COUNTY, Neb. — Lincoln County Jail in Nebraska just received two new inmates: Cats Nemo and Sarge.
The felines were adopted from the local animal shelter, and jail officials say the cats are a welcome addition to the facility.
“We got their mug shots and put them in a couple of cells where we thought they would be better received. We have a list of cat rules that have been laminated for caring for the cat such as cleaning their litter box, but they are waiting in line to take care of the cat,” says Sheriff Jerome Kramer according to KSDK.com.
He added studies show animal companionship helps relieve the inmates of stress and gives them something to do to occupy their time.
